If you were present at the 10-25 Club 29 meeting , you heard the announcement of the 2016-17 Rotary Project. Out of 89 grant applications, the OnePledge/Project committee chose the purchase of a van for El Sistema Oklahoma. With their own van, El Sistema Oklahoma will have more capacity to serve the children in their program by providing transportation for additional performances for their small chamber ensembles. This also supports one of the Rotary International Foundation’s 6 areas of focus, Education.

Perhaps you were present at the OU vs. Kansas State home game on Oct. 15. If you watched the half time production, the students of El Sistema Oklahoma performed with the Pride of Oklahoma! You may view their performance here.
In addition to this project, Club 29 will be funding scholarships for Jr. Rotarians, Dictionaries for 3rd graders, and International Global Grants through the OnePledge. A total of $80,000 is needed .
The committee wants to make it very easy for you. Please indicate how much you’ll pledge here

Guests at the 10-25-16 Rotary Meeting included members of  the Board of Advocates of the Jeannine Rainbolt OU College of Education, pictured below with Dr. Gregg Garn, Dean and 10-25 Speaker, Emily Stratton, Okla. Foundation for Excellence, and Jan Barrick, Alpha Educational Systems.

From Author-journalist Steven Solomon, Water : the epic struggle for wealth, power, and civilization

“Despite its growing scarcity and preciousness to life, ironically, water is also man’s most misgoverned, inefficiently allocated and profligately wasted natural resource.”

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
― Nelson Mandela
