CarolinaMichael5Michael Carolina is the executive director of the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST). Over the course of his career, Mr. Carolina has been recognized for his exceptional leadership skills (visionary, ability to build relationships, results oriented, passion, integrity, role-model behavior and humility). This is evidenced by the number of industry promotions to positions of increased responsibilities and by selection to numerous community service, business and academic boards of directors and advisory committees. Mr. Carolina held management and executive positions with the Western Electric Company, AT&T and Lucent Technologies. After his retirement from Lucent in 2001, he became an industry consultant with the OSU Center for Innovation and Economic Development Foundation. He was also an adjunct professor with the Engineering and Technology Management program in OSU’s College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology.

Mr Carolina received his B.S. in Biological Science from Oklahoma State University in 1967 and his M.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Oklahoma in 1971. He was selected by AT&T to attend its Executive Development Program in Princeton, JN and completed the program in 1986.

Mr Carolina serves on the board of directors for the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF), i2E, the Oklahoma Alliance for Manufacturing Excellence (OAME), the Oklahoma Academy for State Goals, Creative Oklahoma, and Integris Health Edmond. In addition, he serves on the Governor’s Science and Technology Council, the Oklahoma Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) Advisory Committee and engineering advisory boards at Oklahoma State University , the University of Oklahoma and the University of Central Oklahoma.
