On June 22, 2019 through a grant from the Open World Leadership Center, Rotary Club 29 will begin a week hosting a delegation of five judges and one facilitator from the Republic of North Macedonia.  Judges Lisa Hammond and Suzanne Mitchell are planning a week of programming focused on the rule of law.  Rotarians interested in hosting a delegate or two, assisting with transportation, or who are willing to host a cultural event, dinner, or a gathering of any sort are encouraged to contact Lisa (lisa.hammond@oscn.net) or Suzanne )(mitchsu22@gmail.com).  President-Elect Ann Ackerman has graciously invited the group to join her inauguration celebration on June, 25, 2019.  Of interest, North Macedonia is holding its presidential election runoff on May, 5, 2019.

The mission of the Open World Leadership Center, an arm of the U.S. Congress, is to introduce rising leaders of emerging countries to the importance of legislative functions in creating and sustaining democracies. This is done through the introduction of young foreign leaders to the American democratic governing systems and free market operations at every level: federal, state, and local. The Center also maintains a continuing relationship with the network of leaders it has enlisted, especially with those from countries crucial to American national security interests.
