Dear Rotary Club 29 Foundation,

Our community was in a state of shock in the immediate aftermath of the thousand year flood event in early August.  We are accustomed to excesses of water but it’s often related to a hurricane in the gulf and we have warnings days in advance.  However, this 32 hour rain was just unexpected and as some of you know, when a flood is occurring, many are helpless to save anything other than their families, friends, and pets.

It was just a matter of days when Rotary contacts started coming in to our Club’s website.  Unfortunately, our key staff had lost their homes and in their absence, as club president, I responded to each inquiry promptly.  We are writing today to thank you for your generous donation to flood relief and to say how much it mean to our entire Rotary community to see Rotarians answering to people’s needs.

Our foundation has directed donations to The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Foundation for East Baton Rouge Parish Schools and Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge.  Your donations are being put to work in basic areas at a time when thousands in the community have no end in sight to getting back into permanent housing.

So please accept our heartfelt gratitude and the gratitude of the victims.

Yours in Rotary,

Robert Levy – Club President 16-17

Sherry McBeath – Executive Director

Leu Anne Lester Greco – Foundation Chair 16-17
