Commissioner Keith Reed, Oklahoma State Department of Health

“From Access to Impact: Reimagining Rural Health in Oklahoma”

Keith Reed, RN, MPH, CPH, serves as the Oklahoma Commissioner of Health, bringing nearly three decades of dedicated service to the state. With 24 years of executive leadership at the Oklahoma State Department of Health, Commissioner Reed has been a pivotal architect of the state’s public health strategy.

Reed, known as a high-impact mentor and collaborator, focuses on positioning public health as a foundational partner across the broader health care ecosystem. His vision bridges the gap between community health and economic prosperity by leveraging health improvements to drive Oklahoma’s growth.

A Registered Nurse and Certified Public Health professional, Reed holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northeastern State University and a Master of Public Health from the University of Oklahoma. Beyond his civilian role, he has served in the military for more than three decades, primarily in the Oklahoma Air National Guard. A veteran of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, Colonel Reed has 10 years of military command experience and is currently assigned to Oklahoma’s Joint Force Headquarters.
