Dr. Dian Jordan has been in the Hochatown tourism industry for more than 25 years. In 2022, she knocked door-to-door to petition residents for town incorporation. After legal challenges, and more than one trip to the Oklahoma Supreme Court, it is done. Dian served as the first Mayor of Hochatown and currently serves as a Trustee. One of her challenges is ensuring the expansion of U.S. Hwy 259 into a 5-lane stays on track.
This past spring, the United States Postal Service denied Hochatown’s request for a ZIP code. In July, the United States House of Representatives voted to direct the United States Postal Service to designate single, unique ZIP Codes for certain communities – including Hochatown. The bill is now headed to the U.S. Senate.
When not volunteering for her town, Dian serves as the Executive Director of the Harold Stevenson Foundation, promoting the art and legacy of Oklahoma artist, Harold Stevenson.
She received her Ph.D. from Texas Woman’s University and degrees from OU and Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton.
She currently serves on the board of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. Dian received the Governor’s Arts Awards for Excellence in Community Service to the Arts in 2022.
In 2023, she accepted the Oklahoma Municipal League’s Innovation Award for bringing the Community Emergency Response Team certification to Hochatown (since they didn’t have a police department.)
