Dr. Jamie C. Polk, the newly-appointed Superintendent of Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS), is an esteemed education advocate with a passion for driving transformative change. With over two decades of experience in educational leadership, Dr. Polk is dedicated to enhancing student outcomes, fostering community involvement, and creating nurturing learning environments for all of OKCPS’ nearly 33,000 students.

Driven by her commitment to empower students, educators, and communities to achieve their full potential, in her previous role as the Assistant Superintendent of Prekindergarten through 4th Grade at OKCPS, Dr. Polk’s meticulous analysis of data trends led to significant improvements in the district’s A-F State Report Card, drastically reducing the number of failing grades.

Prior to joining OKCPS in 2019, Dr. Polk served students in Lawton, Oklahoma as a decorated teacher and principal before being named the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for Prekindergarten through 12th Grade at Lawton Public Schools. Earning the prestigious National Title I Distinguished School accolade for closing the achievement gap among priority groups, Dr. Polk’s focus on intentional planning, iterative improvement, and personalized feedback fostered continuous development and excellence in education. Her innovative approach also secured the largest local revenue increase in district history and garnered recognition for fiscal, educational, and operational excellence.

Along with her service to OKCPS, Dr. Polk is actively involved in the community, serving as a board member and leader in organizations such as the Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She has also served as a graduate instructor at University of Virginia, Southern Nazarene University, and Cameron University.

A proud wife of 40 years to U.S. Army Staff Sergeant (Ret.) Chris Polk and mother of three, Dr. Polk continues to be a transformative leader in Oklahoma’s educational landscape.
