Everett currently serves as Chief Executive Officer for Dobson Technologies. He was born in Guthrie, OK and grew up in Cheyenne, OK. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics.
In 1989, with the help of family-owned Dobson Telephone Company, Everett founded Dobson Communications Corporation (DCC).
Everett served in many capacities during his tenure at DCC: General Manager, Secretary, President, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of the Board of Directors. DCC was sold to AT&T in November 2007 for $5.1 billion enterprise which included $2.8 billion equity market capital. At the time of the sale, the company was operating in 17 states, producing $1.6 billion in revenue and over $500 million in operating cash flow, had 3,000 employees and 1.6 million subscribers.
Dobson has been a member of the board of directors for the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum since 2000 and is currently serving as Chairman of the Board. He has served his alma mater as a member of the SWOSU Foundation board of directors since 1991 and sits on the Investment Committee. Everett served on the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA) board of directors from 1996 until 2007. In 2009, he was appointed to the board of directors for SandRidge Energy, Inc. (NYSE:SD).
Everett and his wife live in Oklahoma City. They have been married for 29 years and have three daughters.
