The rapid running scale that opens our state song, “Oklahoma,” is probably the most thrilling musical introduction in musical theater. And it perfectly captures my excitement and appreciation for my state.
Oklahoma is like no other place. It has a diverse topography and an even more diverse population. This brings a richness to our state that few others can emulate. I am proud of the fact that two great-grandfathers made the runs of ‘89 and ’93 and that my grandchildren and the fifth generation to be born in our great state.
But no place is perfect. And Oklahoma certainly has its share of problems. That is why Rotary means so much to me. As community leaders we gather weekly to learn about issues facing our community, nation and world. As fellow Rotarians, we work together to resolve many of these issues either through contributions or hands-on-work.
It will take the continued dedication to working together to find solutions to make Oklahoma an even greater place to call home.
“You’re doing fine Oklahoma. Oklahoma’s OK.”
Let’s continue to work together to make this true.
