Chair of the Day

Clytie Bunyan is Managing Editor for Diversity, Community Engagement & Opinion at The Oklahoman. She’s been a journalist in Oklahoma for more than 30 years, most of that time at The Oklahoman including roles as metro reporter, business reporter and business editor. She was the first woman to lead the Business News department and the longest serving business editor in the company’s 132-year history. She has also worn several hats in newsroom leadership, including as Director of Business & Lifestyles and briefly as Interim Editor. These days she’s focused on offering a platform for engagement to readers from all communities, especially those that seldom get an opportunity to be heard. The rebranded opinion pages are now called Viewpoints.
Clytie’s service in the community has included on the advisory boards of the Salvation Army, Science Museum Oklahoma, the University of Oklahoma’s K20 Center, Leadership Oklahoma City and the Rotary Club of Oklahoma City. She likes to travel, including to visit family in Trinidad and Canada, and has been on a mission to Latvia with this Rotary Club.
