Susan Adams – Ronald McDonald House Charities – Oklahoma City
Susan Adams is a graduate of Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois with a Bachelor of Arts in economics and business administration. Early in her career she held financial roles in cold forge manufacturing and in aircraft services overhaul and repair for helicopter, jet and industrial engines.
A 20-year veteran of the telecommunications industry, she has held a variety of senior roles from general manager to vice-president of operations with The Washington Post Company and Cox Communications. She led the launch and integration of high speed internet and digital telephone residentially and commercially for the Phoenix metro area prior to relocating to Oklahoma City to be closer to family.
Today, she serves as president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities® Oklahoma City where she oversees the agency’s Ronald McDonald House® and Ronald McDonald Family Room® programs. RMHC-OKC provides essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families and promote healing when children need healthcare. A new family checks into their 40-bedroom Ronald McDonald House every 11 hours and 16 minutes saving families more than $1.2M in temporary living expenses annually. Thousands of visitors are provided day use respite at their Ronald McDonald Family Room.
She is a past National President of Women in Cable Telecommunications and was elected twice to the Global Advisory Council for Ronald McDonald House Charities. Her local engagement has included serving as President of the Edmond Public Schools Foundation, Chair of the Associate Board of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, Trustee for the Metropolitan Library Endowment Trust, an Executive Committee member of the Oklahoma Health Center Foundation and as a consultant for Executive Service Corps of Central Oklahoma. Currently she is a member of Rotary Club 29.
Susan lives in Edmond with her husband, Paul who is an engineer. They have three grown children. Originally from the Chicago area, she has visited all 50 states and is working on visiting all the Canadian provinces. She enjoys hiking and dispersed camping, reading mysteries, cooking and collecting Western art.
