“Understanding the Food Chain Breakdown: Covid & Beyond”

Scott Blubaugh is the president of American Farmers & Ranchers / Oklahoma Farmers Union, a farm organization representing farmers, ranchers and rural citizens. In addition to his position with AFR/OFU, Scott operates a 3,500-acre family farm and ranch near Tonkawa.

Scott has become a leading spokesperson on the plight of Oklahoma’s farmers and ranchers caught in the turmoil of Covid-19, including the breakdown of the U.S. food supply chain and the market pressure of unresolved trade wars.  He has appeared on CNN and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, was the subject of a Washington Post article and will be part of the United Shades of America documentary series on the food chain crisis.

Scott and his wife Lisa own an AFR Insurance Agency in Tonkawa. Their family farm and ranch stretches across parts of Kay, Osage and Noble Counties. The Blubaugh Angus operation raises registered Angus cattle and holds an annual production sale each spring.

Blubaugh is a graduate of the OSU Oklahoma Ag Leadership Program. In addition to his AFR/OFU involvement, he also serves National Farmers Union as a member of the NFU Executive Board of Directors and as chair of the NFU Education Cooperative Committee. Locally, he is part of the Northern Oklahoma College Ag Advisory Board and has served on his local Farmers Cooperative board.
